Powering a Smarter Campus at LAU Byblos!
At Pierre Dammous & Partners, we’re proud to contribute to a meaningful step forward in energy efficiency at the Lebanese American University (LAU) – Byblos Campus.
Through this project, the campus solar capacity has been scaled from 1 MWp to 3.5 MWp, combined with the integration of a 3 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) directly connected to the medium-voltage network. The result is a smarter, more flexible energy system designed to perform around the clock.
What this means in practice:
• Reduced dependence on diesel generators, especially during low-demand periods
• Stored solar energy used to support nighttime consumption
• Better management of peak loads, with fewer generators running and lower fuel use
This hybrid solution reflects a practical approach to sustainability—one that improves performance while reducing environmental impact.
Projects like this show how thoughtful engineering can make a real difference, not only in systems, but in how energy is produced and used every day.
