Sursock Museum: A Symbol of Beirut’s Soul
Lebanon may face hardships, but its spirit never fades — it rebuilds, reimagines, and rises. One of the clearest reflections of that resilience is the Sursock Museum, a treasured cultural landmark in the heart of Beirut.
Severely damaged during the Beirut Port explosion on August 4, 2020, the museum stood silent for a moment… but only for a moment.
At Pierre Dammous and Partners, we engaged in the MEP repair and refurbishment of this
historic 9,500 sqm building. For us, this wasn’t just another project — it was a contribution to the healing of a city we love.
Working under the guidance of UNESCO and the Nicolas Sursock Museum, we poured our expertise into restoring a space that holds memory, meaning, and art for generations of Lebanese. The rebuild of Sursock was preserving the soul of Beirut.
